Privacy Notice
This notice explains how Select Damp Services collects and uses personal information when you contact us, ask for a quotation, or book a damp survey or remedial work — and what rights you have over that information.
Last updated: 22 September 2026
Who we are
Select Damp Services is a trading name of Martin Evans, a sole trader. Martin Evans is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice. That means he decides how and why it is used, and is responsible for looking after it. In this notice, “we” and “us” mean Martin Evans trading as Select Damp Services.

The information we collect
Through our enquiry form
When you use the enquiry form on this website we receive your name, your phone number, your email address if you choose to give it, the service you are interested in, and anything you write in the message box. The form is processed by our website host, which also records technical information such as your IP address and the time of submission, and uses a hidden field to filter out automated spam.
By telephone, email and WhatsApp
When you call, email or message us on WhatsApp, we receive your contact details and whatever you choose to tell us — typically the property address, a description of the problem, and sometimes photographs.
When we carry out a survey or work
If you go ahead with a survey or remedial work, we also hold the property address, access arrangements, our site notes, readings and photographs of the property, your written report, quotations, invoices and payment records.
Health information
Occasionally people tell us about health concerns linked to damp or mould, such as a child’s asthma. Please only share this if you want us to take it into account — for example when judging how urgent a visit is. We will only use it for that purpose, and only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Responding to your enquiry and preparing a quotation | Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries |
| Arranging and carrying out a survey or remedial work, and producing your report | Performance of our contract with you |
| Keeping accounting, tax and business records | Legal obligation |
| Keeping records of the work we did, to answer later questions about it and to deal with any complaint or claim | Our legitimate interests |
| Keeping this website and its form secure and free of spam | Our legitimate interests |
| Using health information you choose to share | Your explicit consent |
We do not use your enquiry details for marketing, and submitting the form does not add you to any mailing list.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with organisations that help us run the business, and only as far as they need it:
- Netlify, Inc. — hosts this website and processes enquiry-form submissions
- Our email and telephone service providers — carry the messages you send us
- WhatsApp (Meta) — only if you choose to contact us that way, in which case WhatsApp’s own privacy policy also applies
- Professional advisers such as an accountant or legal adviser, where needed
- Public authorities, where the law requires us to disclose information
Links on this site to Google Maps, our Google Business Profile or WhatsApp take you to those services, and their own privacy policies apply once you are there. This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies, and its fonts are hosted on our own site rather than loaded from a third party.
International transfers
Netlify is based in the United States, so enquiry-form submissions and website logs may be processed there. Netlify participates in the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which UK law recognises as providing adequate protection. Where any other provider processes your information outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or other legally recognised safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not go ahead are kept only as long as we need to respond and follow up on that enquiry, and are then deleted.
- Accounting and tax records are kept for the period the law requires.
- Survey reports and job records are kept for as long as reasonably needed to answer questions about the work and to deal with any complaint or claim, taking account of legal time limits for bringing claims.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it securely.
Keeping it secure
This website and its enquiry form are served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to deal with your enquiry or job, and we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect it against loss or misuse.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it on the basis of legitimate interests
- ask for information you gave us to be provided in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it
Some rights apply only in certain circumstances — for example, we may need to keep records the law requires even if you ask us to delete them — and we will explain if that is the case. We do not make decisions about you by automated means.
How to make a request
Email info@dampinspectionliverpool.co.uk, call 07707 642 540 or write to us at 19 Duke Street, Formby, L37 4AN. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within one month, and there is normally no charge.
